What are Libraries?

Libraries are places that store books for lending. People who work in the library are called Librarians. Libraries are places where you can find all forms of reading material to read and improve your knowledge. Some libraries contain reading rooms too!

Types of Libraries

There are various types of libraries found in the world today. Some of the types of libraries are included below:
National Libraries - Libraries that are recognized by a nation are called National Libraries. 
State Libraries - Libraries that are recognized by a national state are called State Libraries. 
Regional Libraries - Libraries that represent a region or territory are called Regional Libraries. 
City Libraries - Libraries that represent a city are called City Libraries. 
Town Libraries - Libraries that represent a town are called Town Libraries.

Features of Libraries

Libraries often contain books for all ages of human audiences. Some of the features of libraries are listed below:
  • Libraries are places that store books for borrowing.
  • Libraries of books can be private, or public in the type audience they receive.
  • Libraries maintain a book numbering system that identifies each book in a catalogue for that library.

Libraries can be traditional, modern, digital, or mixed types of libraries. Some of the benefits of libraries are included below:
  • Libraries make it easy to find books in an area.
  • Libraries help the young and old in finding good books to read.
  • Libraries are quiet places where you can visit to find the latest reading materials published in your area.

Doubts of Libraries

Libraries may not contain all the books you need, like a book store or book catalogue. Some of the doubts of libraries are included below:
  • Some libraries may require you to read books in the library itself.
  • Most libraries may only contain books that are required by the people of a particular area.
  • Libraries may not contain modern books that have been recently published in other parts of the world.

Visiting Libraries

Libraries are located in cities, towns and other urban areas. One can become a member of a library by applying for a membership and paying a monthly, yearly, or periodical fee for borrowing books.
