What are Families?

Families are groups of people who live together and are connected by relations. Families often begin with a father and a mother who become parents and have one or more children that represent a family. Families may live together, in the same house, or live in different houses in different parts of the world. Families are groups of people who become parents with suitable members of other families.

Types of Families

Families are organized in different types in the world we live in. Some of the types of families are listed below:
Zero-Child Families - Families that are organized with two people and no children are called Zero-Child Families. 
One-Child Families - Families that are organized with two people and one child are called One-Child Families. 
Multi-Child Families - Families that are organized with two people and many children are called Multi-Child Families.

Singular Families - Families that live with their own spouses and children, if any, are known as Singular Families.
Joint Families - Families that live with other families that are formed by acts of marriage are known as Joint Families.

Divided Families - Families that live their lives separately, from their original family, are called Divided Families.
Undivided Families - Families that live their lives together, along with their original family, are called Undivided Families.

Families are groups of humans who have chosen to live together for their life, in time. Some of the features of families are mentioned below:
  • Families can be independent or dependent according to the culture that they follow.
  • All types of families aim to provide food, clothing, and shelter to their family members.
  • Families are groups of people that often live together for the complete span of their lives.

Families support individual members of their family by providing them with food, clothing, and shelter. Some of the benefits of families are included below:
  • Families help members in the family obtain a comfortable living for the course of their lives.
  • Living in families helps preserve ancestral culture and familial heritage between generations.
  • Living in families helps cultivate a culture of togetherness that can protect and help families prosper.

Doubts of Families

Families cannot always protect their family members. Some of the doubts of families are included below:
  • Not all families may have family members who live together for the complete span of their lives.
  • Some types of families make it difficult for family cultures to be passed down from generation to generation.
  • Families may not be able to provide all the comforts of food, clothing, and shelter to every member in the family.

Family history and culture can be learned from the nearest cultural center or social studies center in a local area. Families can be studied by observing family charts, ancestral records, public registry records, and national records.
