What is Chemistry?

Chemistry is a study of science that involves learning about how the elements in a substance react with other substances and elements. Every human practices some form of basic chemistry in their everyday lives while applied forms of chemistry are practiced by chemists and scientists in chemistry labs and chemical industries. The study of chemistry aims to convey the state of equilibrium in which most substances are safe to handle to become usable in the modern world.

Types of Chemistry

The study of chemistry can be broadly classified into two main types. Some of the types of chemistry are listed below:
Organic Chemistry - The study of organic forms of chemicals is termed: Organic Chemistry.
Inorganic Chemistry - The study of inorganic forms of chemicals is termed: Inorganic Chemistry.

Features of Chemistry

Chemical science features mixing different forms of chemicals in different mediums. Some of the features of chemistry are presented below:
  • Chemical sciences can help individuals understand how liquids react with each other.
  • Chemistry is a science that researches chemical substances to determine their composition, properties, and uses.
  • The study of chemistry can tell us when food substances would tend to spoil so we can consume them when they taste the best.

Benefits of Chemistry

Practicing chemistry can benefit the human species by learning about new compounds to help individuals in their everyday lives. Some of the benefits of chemistry are listed below:
  • Chemical research has produced many beneficial chemicals that aid humans in their everyday lives.
  • Practicing chemical science can help people purify water that helps them stay hydrated and live healthy lives.
  • Chemical sciences helps humans plan the preparation of chemical drugs and components that can make human lives better.

Doubts of Chemistry

Chemistry cannot always provide answers that chemists dream to know about. Some of the doubts of chemistry are listed below:
  • There are some forms of human-made chemical substances that are hazardous to human health.
  • Chemical sciences often need the assistance of research in physical and biological sciences to make their own conclusions.
  • Some types of chemical sciences cannot involve the study of solids or other forms of compounds unless they are isolated as liquids.

    1. Chemical science or chemistry considers using parts of substances for sampling and often doesn't provide a larger picture as compared to biology that acknowledges the species, genus and class of organisms.

Chemistry relates to more detailed aspects of substances like atomic numbers, and positions in the periodic table of natural elements rather than the associations of those substances to the world around us.

That is probably one reason why chemical science is hard to relate to and becomes challenging for most people.
